(Foundation)

Government recognized Diploma to Universities

Boston College’s international Access to Higher Education diploma programme is a nationally approved level 3 qualification which allows students to raise their academic standard to university entrance level. It also enables them to gain the appropriate level of English language required by universities (6-7 IElTS). The course is nationally approved by AIM Awards.

  • You will choose one main study pathway that is made up of three subjects, alongside studying  I.T, study skills and English as a Foreign Language.

  • You will have a tutorial once a week.

STUDY PATHWAYS:

 

International Access to Business

You will study Business, plus two of the following subjects: Law, Mathematics  or Computing.

 

International Access to Social Science

You will study Sociology and Psychology, plus one of the following subjects: Law, History or English Literature.

 

International Access to Humanities

You will study History and English Literature, plus one of the following subjects: Law, Psychology or Sociology.

 

International Access to Science

You will study 3 subjects from Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Computing.

Academic entry requirements:

Hong Kong S.5 completion/Mainland China Gao Er completion/Taiwan Senior Secondary School completion/ Singapore- GCE “O” Level

 

Age requirement: 17 years old

 

English requirement:  IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent

Do universities recognise the Int'l Access to HE Diploma (Foundation)?

The Access to HE Diploma is widely recognised by UK universities, and many actively encourage applications from Access to HE students. 
Each year, around 20,000 Access to HE students apply for a degree course at a UK university. They go on to study a wide range of subjects, including law, education, and business.

 

Here are some examples of their requirements in Business degree on Int'l Access:

University of Bristol

At least 30 credits at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit, with Distinctions in Maths units including Further Calculus.

University of Brighton

Pass (at least 45 credits at level 3), with 24 credits at merit or above. Units in accounting and finance, business or management required.

University of Manchester

A minimum of `merit' in level 3 subjects - including 30 `distinctions'

University of East Anglia (UEA)

Mathematics and English Language GCSEs at grade C or above Pass with Distinction in 36 credits at level 3 and Merit in 9 credits at Level 3

University of Sussex

At least 45 credits at Level 3, of which 30 credits must be at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit or higher

University of Newcastle

At least 30 level 3 credits at Distinction and in addition at least 15 level 3 credits at a minimum of Merit

University of Nottingham

Must include business elements. Pass Access to HE Diploma with 45 credits at level 3 including 30 level 3 credits at Distinction

Keele University

As a guide, for courses that require ABB at A Level we will be looking for 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction and 15 Level 3 credits at Merit or higher. For courses that require ABC or BBB at A Level we will be looking for 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction

King’s College London

Access to Social Sciences/Humanities (or similar) Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits: 36 must be from units awarded at Distinction (including significant study of a humanities/social science subject), with the remaining Level 3 credits at Merit
